Col Du Tourmalet

One of the classic summits of the Tour De France, The Tourmalet attracts thousands of spectators when the Tour passes through.
Basques, Brits and Belgians; everyone comes to see the worlds top cyclists take on the gruelling climbs of the Pyrenees.

The evening before the stage. Camper Vans arrive early to secure the best views.
For this Dutch group, the party started early.
For 18 years this family have been coming to the Pyrenees to watch the Tour.
A Cycle club from Australia relax after cycling to the top.
On the summit people wait for the riders to come through.
There is a festival atmosphere on the Tourmalet.
Brits wait calmly on the decent side of the mountain.
Surrounded by his Sky team mates, Bradley Wiggins.
Not too far behind the pelaton, Mark Cavendish
Cycling fans look out for the first riders
Above the treeline, the only shade is what you bring with you.

This is a small edit of my images from this stage. Exhibition coming soon....

HS2 link

The HS2 will go through the Broadwater lake nature reserve when/if it is built. This reserve is home to many species of waterbirds and Daubenton’s and Pipistrelle bats which are European protected species.

Hillingdon Outdoor Centre will be forced to relocate during construction of the HS2 Viaduct which will be built directly through their lake. If they will be able to return is debatable. The turbulence caused by trains running overhead will compromise the conditions needed for yachting .
